Questions & Answers
Isn't Tantra all about sex?
No most definitely not, although some literature would lead one to assume this. There are practitioners who focus on methods to enhance your sexuality. Tantra is however a spiritual path that makes use of all our senses as a door to awakening, to awareness, to consciousness and this is what the Durga Tantra School teaches.
The union between male and female is the highest ritual; however this is not simply sex! Tantra teaches a new approach to sexuality, one that allows the sacredness to come back in and in this way the very act of making love (be it alone or with a partner) is the closest you can get to actually feeling your Divineness. It is the closest we are able to get to God, but pornography and the likes are at the opposite spectrum.
Fundamental to tantric sexuality is the conscious awareness during all aspects of the act. This allows sexual expression to become a meditation in itself. Tantra teaches meditation in all aspects of life, all the time, every day of our human lives. Breath work is the single most important aspect of tantric sexuality and all retreats include this as well as various yoga or bodywork awareness exercises, such as Lomi Bodywork for example.
Durga Tantra School retreats use tantric rituals, experiential exercises, role play, movement and dance, creative media (art therapy) in order to allow you to experience what Tantra is about. In its very essence, Tantra is about love, about unconditional, non-judgemental acceptance...simply love!
