School Journal

30th April 2007

I have just finished two weeks of Tantra Sacred Massage sessions in JHB. Again I had offered a short workshop but had only one couple who booked. This is making me think: either I am offering the wrong kind of workshop OR it is really simply a matter of South African couples and single women (there are usually more men interested than women) being shy about coming into a group for a Tantra workshop. Perhaps a bit of both.

The couple that booked came on their own and it was a lovely informative time we spent together, mainly chatting about how I had come to Tantra, their interest in Tantra as well as various aspects of this wonderful path. Practically I only showed them the tantric breathing technique and gave them ideas of how to continue at home until we meet again and I will be able to give them more input.

In my Tantra Sacred Massage work, I encounter very many women and also men who, having been brought up here in South Africa, have experiences a very supressed sexuality. In young years this seems to be fine as a lot of the time things are really interesting - and the sexual drive is in full bloom, quite of it's own accord, without any input from ourselves. As we get older or after some years of marriage, we find things getting dull and unfulfilling. More often than not, it is the men who make a move to change things. Sometimes it's the men nudging the women in their lives to do something about their consertivaness.

Which ever way around, Tantra is a beautiful way of enhancing, renewing and refreshing relationships. It puts the relationship on a totally different level when you start finding the spiritual in the sexual and uniting with your partner in a tantric way. There is nothing better for couples to go this journey within a group. In a group you have the additional and enritching experience of other couples on the same journey. Every one is in the same boat - most women are shy about starting this journey and even a number of men have to overcome this in order to attend. But you find that once the ice is broken - and that happens very easily once we all get together, it becomes really nice to be with a number of people going on this intimate and sacred journey to something deeper within themselves and within life itself.

By writing this, I hope to encourage you to take the plunge and book one of the next workshops. My vision is to facilitate weekend workshop retreats, along the lines of how international schools, and particularly the German schools, teach Tantra. The short 4-hour to one-day workshops that I am now offering are and introduction and a way of getting to know me and how I work in workshops before signing up for a retreat. I look forward to hearing from anyone interested in workshops!

Namaste, Leandra
